The National Commissioner of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, delivered a goodwill message at the inauguration ceremony for the training of 40,000 state and local government civil servants on data protection and privacy, e-government tools, and ICT skills, organised by the Benue State Government.
The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr (Dr) Hyacinth Alia, also formally launched four major initiatives at the event. These projects include the Benue State Government Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), the Benue State Geographic Information System (BENGIS) portal, the Benue Youth Startup and Innovation Support portal, and the website for the Office of the Benue State Head of Service.
In his goodwill message, Dr Olatunji congratulated Rev Fr (Dr) Alia for successfully launching four major digital initiatives aimed at improving digital literacy among Benue State civil servants. He noted that the state is bound to make significant progress with the right steps taken by the Governor to assist residents of the state.
Dr Olatunji also pointed out that the NDPC is fully prepared to train 40,000 civil servants on data protection and privacy, in response to the Benue State Government’s request. He noted that, with this training, civil servants in the state would be better equipped to responsibly manage personal data available to them in the course of their duties.
