The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, led a team from the Commission to a briefing with members of the Ministerial Delivery Task Team, headed by the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo.
The meeting aimed to evaluate NDPC’s 2024 deliverables and performance scorecard while ensuring that its activities positively impact the average Nigerian. The evaluation covered NDPC’s achievements in 2024, areas for improvement, and actionable steps to advance President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Dr Olatunji delivered a presentation on NDPC’s projects, initiatives, and high-impact deliverables for 2025. He highlighted key initiatives, including the National Certification for Data Protection Officers, enforcement strategies, the development of sectoral guidelines, NADPA, awareness and other critical programs.
Additionally, the National Commissioner discussed high-impact deliverables, key performance indicators, and existing challenges. He emphasised that adequate capacity, funding, infrastructure, and other critical resources are essential for achieving the Commission’s objectives. Dr Olatunji also urged the Ministry to support NDPC in fostering compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023.
