NDPC Highlights Data Protection in Project Management at Elevate Summit

The National Commissioner and CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr. Vincent Olatunji, represented by the NDPC’s Head of Legal, Enforcement, and Regulation, Barrister Babatunde Bamgboye, delivered the keynote address at the Elevate Summit 2025, held in Lagos.

Dr. Olatunji emphasized the growing importance of data security in today’s world, where nearly all businesses depend on data. He highlighted that project management relies on data for decision-making, progress tracking, resource allocation, and success measurement.

He guided the audience through key aspects of data protection in project management, including privacy risks, fundamental principles of data protection, the legal basis for data processing, and the rights of data subjects. He emphasized that failing to uphold data protection and privacy undermines credibility in an increasingly interconnected business environment.

Dr. Olatunji also highlighted the vast opportunities within Nigeria’s data protection and privacy ecosystem, noting that they are set to drive economic growth in alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s eight-point agenda.
