The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, received a team from Smartcomply, led by the Chief Operating Officer, Valerie Azubuike.
The visit aimed to explore potential collaboration with the Commission to promote awareness and build capacity in the area of data protection and privacy. During their presentation, the Smartcomply team highlighted their value propositions, which include leveraging technology to create solutions that enhance awareness and improve compliance, as well as standardise reporting, and capacity building.
They also proposed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further strengthen the partnership between the Commission and Smartcomply.
Dr Olatunji commended the team for their interest in the ongoing efforts to advance data protection and privacy in Nigeria. He also commended them as a startup and Data Protection Compliance Organisation (DPCO), particularly for developing solutions for better understanding and compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023. He graciously accepted the proposed collaboration, and other areas for potential partnership were explored.
