The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, represented Nigeria as a panelist during a panel session titled “Digital Identity: Data Risk Governance” at the 2025 edition of ID4Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Sharing Nigeria’s experience during the session, he highlighted key developments and challenges in the country’s digital identity ecosystem. He spoke on the adoption of centralised digital identity solutions, reiterated the importance of international development cooperation in digital identity and tokenisation, amongst others.
Other panelists included the Data Protection Commissioners from Kenya, South Africa, and Mauritius, as well as representatives from Côte d’Ivoire and Ethiopia, all of whom offered insightful contributions to the discussion.
