The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, was part of the Nigerian delegation on a cybersecurity study tour to Estonia. The study tour, coordinated by the National Cybersecurity Coordination Centre in the Office of the National Security Adviser, was to understudy Estonia’s advanced digital transformation journey and explore potential areas for collaboration between both countries.
During the visit, the delegation engaged with a wide range of institutions, including the Estonian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Justice, and Digital Affairs; the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE); the E-Estonia Briefing Centre (X-Road); the Information System Authority; the Estonia Business School; and the TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy Centre for Maritime Cyber Security. They also held a roundtable with several Estonian companies.
Discussions during the tour also covered the role and activities of the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate. The visit will be followed up by targeted initiatives focused on capacity building, knowledge exchange, and connecting Nigerian startups with Estonia’s dynamic startup ecosystem.
