The National Commissioner of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, delivered a goodwill message at the maiden edition of the National Cybersecurity Conference 2025, organised by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in Abuja, Nigeria.
In his remarks, Dr Olatunji commended NITDA, under the leadership of the Director-General of NITDA, Mr Kashifu Inuwa, for organising the timely and strategic event. He noted that cybersecurity and data privacy are closely interconnected. While cybersecurity focuses on technical measures such as access controls, encryption, and firewalls to protect digital infrastructure, data privacy, he explained, is grounded in legal frameworks that empower individuals to control how their personal data is collected, used, and shared.
He expressed his hope for a productive and impactful conference, emphasising the need to focus on policies, human capital development, infrastructure, Public-Private Partnership (PPP), and political will as key drivers for building a resilient digital future for Nigeria. He added that the NDPC is proud to support and actively participate in the event’s sessions. digital economy and ensures a cyber-resilient future for both Nigeria and the world.
