The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, paid a visit to the Lagos State training centres for Data Protection Officers (DPOs) located in Ikeja and University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Dr Olatunji congratulated the participants on being part of the programme and urged them to take full advantage of the opportunity. He noted that the NDPC is committed to delivering relevant knowledge through capacity building within Nigeria’s digital ecosystem. He described the initiative as an effort of the Federal Government to create employment opportunities for Nigerians, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
Dr Olatunji noted that the data protection and privacy ecosystem holds vast potential, and that the certification process meets global standards, adding that Data Protection Officers are in high demand globally. He highlighted a gap of about 490,000 DPOs in Nigeria and encouraged participants to embrace the training and certification programme to enhance their prospects and advance their careers.
