NDPC Establishes 17 Campus Privacy Clubs Nationwide, Expands Youth Ambassador Network across 85 Institutions

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), in collaboration with the Port Harcourt Chapter of ISACA, hosted the 6th Edition of the Digital Privacy Awareness Campaign (DPAC) at Rivers State University (RSU), Port Harcourt, reinforcing the NDPC’s commitment to building a privacy-conscious generation through strategic partnerships, youth engagement, and sustained awareness initiatives across Nigerian tertiary institutions.

The event was declared open by the National Commissioner/CEO of the NDPC, Dr Vincent Olatunji, who was ably represented by Mr Oluwatimilehin Agboola of the Commission’s Research, Development and Innovation Department. In his remarks, Mr Agboola disclosed that the Commission has established 17 Data Privacy Clubs across universities in the six geopolitical zones and that the Data Privacy Ambassador Programme has grown to over 2,500 student ambassadors across 85 tertiary institutions nationwide.

The welcome address was delivered by the President of ISACA, Port Harcourt Chapter, Ms Lauretta Davies-Dimkpa, who also delivered a session titled, “From Campus to Career: Opportunities, Certifications and Scholarships in the Data Privacy and Digital Trust Ecosystem,” where she introduced participants to career pathways and opportunities in the data privacy ecosystem.

The event also featured goodwill remarks from the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, Ms Aleruchi Akani; the Permanent Secretary of the Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Onos Sirawoo, who was represented by the Deputy Director of Enlightenment, Ms Joy Owhonda-Sarima; and the Head of the Department of Computer Engineering, Rivers State University, Dr Boma Lucklyn.
