The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, received the Program Director at Team Europe Initiative (TEI), Mrs Caroline Allibert-Delestras, on a strategic visit to the Commission.
Mrs Allibert-Delestras commended Dr Olatunji for his warm reception. She noted that TEI is committed to the education of women, the promotion of women in ICT, as well as making the digital space safe for women. She added that the Initiative, with six member nations, plans to cover sixteen nations from Africa and Asia. She highlighted some challenges faced by women, and requested the Commission’s support in fulfilling its aims and objectives.
In his remarks, Dr Olatunji commended TEI for its commitment to empowering women, acknowledging the clear global gender gap. He affirmed that the NDPC prioritises women’s advancement, particularly in leadership roles, and emphasised the vital contributions of women within the Commission, where they lead key strategic departments and drive organisational progress across its many functions as a government agency. He concluded by assuring her of the Commission’s support in achieving TEI’s mandate.
Deliberations were held on how best to work together to improve women’s participation in ICT and decision-making.
