Catching Them Young: NDPC Takes 7th Digital Privacy Awareness Campaign to Ahmadu Bello University

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) hosted the 7th Edition of the Digital Privacy Awareness Campaign (DPAC) at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State.

The event was declared open on behalf of the National Commissioner/CEO, Dr Vincent Olatunji, by Abdulmalik Jamoh of the IT and Cybersecurity Department of the Commission. The Vice-Chancellor of ABU was represented by the Director of IAIICT in the university, Professor Emmanuel Adedokun, while the keynote address was delivered by a Senior Lecturer and Patron of the Data Privacy Club in the University, Mallam Shuaibu Muhammad Umar, and the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Sahalu Junaidu, delivered a goodwill message.

The programme featured sessions that spoke on digital identity, online safety, data privacy, and opportunities in the digital trust ecosystem, with the key highlight being the inauguration of the Data Privacy Club at the university to create a sustainable platform for continued student-led privacy awareness and advocacy.

The DPAC is a flagship NDPC youth initiative aimed at young Nigerians in tertiary institutions, promoting a safer and more privacy-conscious digital generation.
