The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, was represented by the Head of Information Technology & Cybersecurity at the Commission, Mr Olorunisomo Isola, at the DefComm Africa Defence Technology Conference in Abuja.

At the High-Level Cyber Defence and Secure Communications Engagement, Mr Isola presented a regulatory viewpoint on the theme, “Data Governance, Digital Trust and Institutional Accountability in National Cyber Defence”, highlighting the importance of strong governance frameworks, public trust in digital systems, and responsible institutional oversight in safeguarding national cyber infrastructure.

He emphasised that data is now a strategic national asset and a critical component of national security, reiterating the importance of compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDP Act) in strengthening cybersecurity resilience, institutional accountability and public trust.

The engagement reinforces NDPC’s commitment to strong data governance, regulatory oversight and multi-agency collaboration in safeguarding Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.
