The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) participated in a digital awareness and sensitisation programme organised by the Directorate of Advancement Centre, in partnership with the Alumni Association of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State. The event, themed “Repositioning FUOYE’s Image: Institutional Outlook in the Digital Era,” brought together staff and students from across the university community.
The Commission was represented by Barrister Alexander Onwe from the Strategic Partnership and Communications Department, and Mr Mukthar Alimi from the Research and Development Department. The programme focused on promoting professional digital engagement, data protection, privacy awareness, institutional ethics online, and responsible digital citizenship within academic environments.
As part of its ongoing initiative to empower young Nigerians, the NDPC also inaugurated its fourth Data Privacy and Protection Club at FUOYE. The club is designed to equip students with knowledge of their data rights, promote digital responsibility, and entrench a culture of data privacy on campus. This reinforces the Commission’s commitment to advancing data protection awareness across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions and nurturing a generation of privacy-conscious citizens.
