From Earth to Orbit: NDPC Champions Data Safety at NIGCOMSAT Satellite Week 2026

The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, was ably represented by the Head of Finance Management and Control, Mr Olufemi Ibitayo, at the NIGCOMSAT Satellite Week 2026, themed “Harnessing Space Technology for an Extraordinary Nigeria.” The event was declared open by the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani.

Mr Ibitayo delivered a goodwill message highlighting the importance of collaboration within the digital ecosystem, while reaffirming NDPC’s role as a regulator committed to ensuring that data remains safe and protected. He acknowledged key milestones in the sector, including the growth of NigComSat, describing it as a tree that has been planted and continues to grow, with its impact steadily coming to full manifestation.

The event also featured contributions from various stakeholders across the ecosystem, followed by an exhibition session where innovative solutions were showcased, further reinforcing the potential of space technology in driving national development.
