NCS Conference 2026: NDPC Reaffirms Commitment to Balancing Innovation and Data Protection

The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) reinforced its commitment to advancing data privacy and digital trust at the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Conference in Jos, Plateau State, where it organised a panel session titled, “Building Trust in the Digital Economy: Data Privacy as an Enabler of Inclusive Growth and Innovation.”

A Technical Assistant to the National Commissioner/CEO of the NDPC, Engineer Tolulope Ibitoye, represented the Commission at the panel session, which explored how data privacy can serve as a strategic enabler of digital innovation, inclusive growth, AI adoption, investment confidence, and Nigeria’s digital economy. She spoke on cross-border data flows, responsible AI governance, and the future direction of regulation, striking a balance between innovation and data protection.

The session, moderated by the CEO of Management Edge Limited, Mr Ayodeji Abitogun, had other panellists, including the Chairman of the Abuja Chapter of the NCS, Andrew Agbo Abu; the Head of Compliance/Partnerships at Hexagon DataProtect, Naangwam Dariem; and a Data Protection Officer at Central Soft Support System (CS3), Esebom Ekperipe.

The Commission also had an exhibition booth at the conference, where it showcased its regulatory mandate, initiatives, and achievements in advancing data protection and privacy in Nigeria, while engaging stakeholders on the importance of compliance and responsible data governance.
