The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, received a delegation from the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria on a courtesy visit to the Commission. The delegation was led by Alhaji Lamis Dikko, Second Vice President of CIoD Nigeria, who represented the President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Otunba Adetunji Oyebanji.
Alhaji Dikko stated that the courtesy visit reflects CIoD Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening institutional leadership through deliberate and purposeful collaboration. With a mission to build leaders who govern with integrity, competence, and accountability in service to national development, Alhaji Dikko expressed the Institute’s readiness to support the NDPC’s mandate through strategic partnerships.
In his remarks, Dr Olatunji commended CIoD Nigeria for its proactive engagement and emphasised the importance of identifying practical areas of collaboration. He noted that CIoD Nigeria, as a data controller of major importance, must prioritise compliance, as data protection fosters trust, confidence, and institutional credibility, stating that the partnership would enhance compliance across corporate entities.
Dr Olatunji welcomed collaboration on capacity building, awareness, compliance, data protection governance, policy dialogue and continuous learning. He noted that a Memorandum of Understanding would formalise objectives, roles, and implementation strategies.
