As part of efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration and promote data protection and privacy, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has formalised a partnership with Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The National Commissioner/CEO of the NDPC, Dr Vincent Olatunji, received the Vice-Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, and other university officials for the signing of the MoU.
The Vice-Chancellor, who signed on behalf of the University, commended Dr Olatunji for the warm reception and noted that the MoU builds on the existing relationship between NDPC and NSUK. She reaffirmed the University’s commitment to serving as a pacesetter among tertiary institutions and to advancing data protection and privacy in Nigeria.
In his remarks, Dr Olatunji commended the management of NSUK, led by Professor Liman, for its proactive approach to data protection and privacy as a means of strengthening privacy culture and compliance within the University and the State at large. He noted that the MoU would further deepen the partnership, particularly in the areas of human capital development and awareness creation within the University.
The National Commissioner further emphasised the need to prioritise the implementation of the MoU by addressing both short- and long-term goals, and announced the establishment of an implementation committee to commence work on the agreement.n Nigeria.
