NDPC Reiterates Commitment to Nigeria’s Digital Public Infrastructure at NDXP Workshop

The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, delivered a goodwill message at the Nigeria Data Exchange Platform (NDXP) Stakeholder Workshop in Abuja.

During his speech, Dr Olatunji reiterated NDPC’s commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) by ensuring all stakeholders comply with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDP Act). He also stated that the NDPC is a key player in improving Nigeria’s DPI, with its core mandate being the protection of personal data, including during data exchange. He emphasised that data protection remains central to Nigeria’s digital transformation and stated that the NDPC is not only about enforcing compliance, but also promoting awareness and trust in digital governance. This, he noted, is vital for building public confidence.

At the event, stakeholders commended the NDPC for the significant progress and impactful initiatives it has undertaken under the visionary leadership and dedication of Dr Olatunji since its formal establishment in 2023. They affirmed that strict compliance with the NDP Act is a fundamental requirement for secure and efficient data exchange, as well as a crucial building block in the development of Nigeria’s DPI.
