The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, received in audience members of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Abuja Chapter, led by its President, Mr Andrew Abu.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen stakeholder engagement and deepen collaboration between the NCS and the NDPC. The delegation highlighted the Society’s nationwide presence across various states of the Federation and expressed its readiness to leverage this network to promote data protection awareness. They also requested enhanced capacity-building programmes for their members and affirmed their commitment to adding value to the Commission’s mandate through strategic partnership.
In his response, Dr Olatunji reiterated that the NDPC remains open to collaboration with critical stakeholders in advancing Nigeria’s data protection ecosystem, particularly in the areas of data protection training, capacity building, and professional certification.
He urged the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) to ensure full compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 and encouraged the Society to uphold high standards of data protection practice.
Dr Olatunji further noted that through sustained collaboration, skills development, and certification initiatives, the Abuja Chapter can position itself as a model for other state chapters nationwide.
