As part of the activities of the National Privacy Week 2026, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) held a Data Privacy Summit with the theme, “Privacy in the Era of Emerging Technologies: Trust, Ethics and Innovation,” at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
The National Commissioner/CEO of the NDPC, Dr Vincent Olatunji, appreciated everyone for their participation and gave brief highlights of the activities of the National Privacy Week. The Summit was declared open by the Royal Data Ambassador of Nigeria and the Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Epe Division, Lagos State, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr) Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo.
Dignitaries who delivered goodwill messages at the event include the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd); the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu; the Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju; the Director of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre, CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry; and the President of the Digital Bridge Institute, Mr David Daser, among others.
