The National Commissioner/CEO of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Dr Vincent Olatunji, received the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Mr Adeladan Rafiu Olanire, on a courtesy visit to the Commission.
The visit was aimed at familiarising the Permanent Secretary with the activities of the NDPC, strengthening efforts to drive its core mandate for optimal performance, identifying existing challenges, and exploring ways to improve staff welfare within the Commission.
Dr Olatunji commended Mr Adeladan’s leadership style and provided a comprehensive overview of the NDPC’s evolution. He emphasized the growing importance of digital technology and the global focus on establishing safeguards for data usage, given the increasing volume of users worldwide.
He also highlighted recent milestones achieved by the NDPC, including a rise in audit filings, the domestication of data protection certifications for professionals, and some of the Commission’s ongoing challenges.
In response, Mr Adeladan Commended the NDPC’s efforts and the National Commissioner’s dedication. He affirmed that the NDPC plays a vital role in advancing the Ministry’s agenda and pledged full support in realising the Commission’s core objectives. He emphasised the national importance of accelerating Nigeria’s digital sector and committed to enhancing staff welfare through improved funding.
